Kalapi is an old word for the peacock. Sculpted peacocks in mint, ivory and plum enamel turn towards ruby-red ovals, each ringed with small clear stones, all set on a carved gold band.

How to wear it

The soft mint, ivory and plum enamel on the Kalapi Peacock Kada suits pastel outfits: mint, lilac and ivory lehengas, chikankari kurtas and organza sarees. Wear it for daytime weddings, mehendi, haldi and Eid. It works alone as a single statement kada or with slim gold bangles on either side.

Care

  • Put it on after perfume and lotion, and take it off before bathing, swimming or washing up.
  • Keep it away from water and moisture; wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing.
  • Store it in its box or a soft pouch, apart from other pieces, so the enamel does not scratch.

The Kalapi Peacock Kada is handcrafted on a brass base with a gold-tone finish, with hand-finished enamel work, crystal and glass stones in individual settings. It is part of UTSAV, Priskel's traditional line, and is not made of solid gold, silver or precious gemstones.
Can I wear the Kalapi Peacock Kada in water or while sweating?
No. Unlike Priskel's Everyday 18K gold PVD steel pieces, UTSAV pieces are not waterproof. Put the Kalapi Peacock Kada on after perfume, hairspray and lotion, take it off before bathing, swimming or exercise, and wipe it with a soft dry cloth after wearing. Stored dry in the box, the finish lasts longest with gentle care.
What sizes does the Kalapi Peacock Kada come in, and how do I choose?
The Kalapi Peacock Kada is available in bangle sizes 2.4 and 2.6 (inches, inner diameter). Size 2.4 suits most slim to medium wrists; 2.6 suits broader hands. The kada opens on a hinge, so it goes on at the wrist rather than over the knuckles, and you can choose the size that sits comfortably. Measure a bangle you already own across the inside, or use the UTSAV bangle size guide (2.4 vs 2.6) to measure at home.
